Request: Someone to review my adapters from Shapeways
« on: Sat, 27 July 2013, 20:44:38 »
I'm interested in finding out how good shapeways and my model work out. If someone would be so kind as to order either a 16, 32, 128, or 256 pack from my shapeways store to find out if:
1. The adapters work (not too loose, not too tight)
2. Shapeways delivers the adapters separate and not stuck together as one big blob :))

Since I'm asking you to take a risk on these on if they work or not, I'm willing to reimburse you the cost of the adapters+shipping (16 or 32 pack) if you provide me with some nice pictures of all the adapters as-recieved and in real-world conditions on a board and inside a MX cap. I'll also reimburse you if the adapters flat out don't work (however I'd like for you to ship them to me for testing).

Example of pics I want.

If you're interested post below before you buy, since I don't want 20 people to go out and buy this and demand money from me.

Shapeways Shop: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/kirk (Grab a QFR keychain while you're there :) )

As always, BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK BRAH.

If this isn't allowed (selling stuff in the reviews section) let me know where I should put this.

Perhaps more appropriate quantities like 20-25, 90, 110 ?
Filco w/ Imsto thick PBT
Ducky 1087XM PCB+Plate, w/ Matias "Quiet Click" spring-swapped w/ XM Greens

I thought about that, but I figured it'd be better to have extras incase one of them do break, and the cost wouldn't change much from 128->110->90 or 32->25->20 since there seems to be a $1-$2 flat charge on every order, which is why that single one costs so dern much. But hey, if you're willing to grab a pack, I'll make you a pack of 20.

Oh also, it was easier to just copy/paste the same one again and again.

I've got switches but no board, going to attempt Alps key chains.

And I didn't see the other options on my phone lol.

Alright, I just want someone to get the "normal" option and someone else to get a "polished" option to see if there is a difference in fit.

SpAmRaY has claimed one of two spots. If someone else want's to try these, plan on getting one of the "polished" options.

Even if these adapters do fit fine, how practical is it when the cherry caps are mounted so tall on the ALPS switch?

Suggestion:  Add MX "extenders" for stabilized keys-- that consume the same amount of height as your adaptor, so Costar-type stabilizers can be plugged in and it still fits.

What do you mean by practical?

In my confusion I made these vines.

Oh also Hak Foo, that seems easy enough to do.

They should work with any ALPS compatible board, so yes.

Well it looks like someone just purchased the normal white and polished pink versions of these adapters. If whoever purchased the pink would be interested in taking up the offer in the first post, PM me, or post.

I went all in :o :p

for keyboard science!

But I will gladly forward a couple of the adapters to anyone interested (limited to a few people obviously), I'm sure they could be mailed in a first class envelope.

Yeah I got an email saying they couldn't make the parts.

Shapeways defaults to giving you store credit as a refund but when you ask they go ahead and refund it back to your method of payment.

I wish he would release a CAD file, so I could at least print them myself!

I'm also currently working with someone on getting a GB going and doing them in POM.  I probably won't be able to do the stabilizer adaptor at the same time due to cost of the mold.

I've also been trying to get in touch with Ultratec to see if they still have the molds for the MX/Alps adaptors they had on some of their phones.  If they do and I can use them or get them cheap, I can do the but fur adaptors and stabilizer adaptors at the same time.
