It's more a case of lighting.  The better lighting you have, the better pics you can take.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You could look into picking up a softbox in order to give you some nice light. Or a reflector if shooting outside. They have kits on Amazon for pretty cheap that you'd be able to snag.

I use A Better Camera (Android) for taking pictures, mostly in HDR and it gives me the option to save the original exposure bracketed files which i can then edit in the computer. If i don't mind so much or need to send the picture immediately i pass it through Anandtech Perfectly Clear for quick enhancements. That's it.

Such a contraption seems to make a huge positive difference to photos taken here, especially keycaps, which are by definition very small, and even keyboards.

Some people have even made their own out of a simple wooden frame and some old white bed sheets.

I use A Better Camera (Android) for taking pictures

This is an amazing post, for a couple of reasons:
1. Android is an OS not a phone.
2. The iPhone 6 and 6+ has a much better camera than nearly all Android handsets.
3. The rest of what you described can be done on an iPhone and has been a feature of them for years.

Like everyone else has said with a brain, light is a huge deal. I can take some pretty damn good shots outside in the sun when the weather is perfect, but inside in middling light it struggles like mad. The default camera app gets the most out of the lense and sensor of the phone, other apps just add the ability to slap on fancy filters which don't actually improve the image.

This. There is great post processing software like Camera+ , but lighting is really the only aspect you can control when taking photos on the iPhone (shutter speed and aperture are pretty much determined out of the box).

You are unzipping your pants way too soon and your brain is spilling out of them.

1.- A Better Camera

2.- The rest are just assumptions based on the misunderstanding of what A Better Camera (*for* Android) meant.

I use VSCO to edit my pictures on the go
Even when I transfer photos wirelessly from my X100T

but to take good photo you need a good phone with good camera to begin with, and good lighting as people above has said

Assumptions? Nope just read your post, hardly my fault if you struggle with sense structure or the placement or words.
Though it should also be pointed out that you recommended an android app when the OP pretty clearly states he's using an iPhone... But yes, I'm letting my brain spil out of my pants, on the off chance you might pick something up from the spillage.
