Any keyboard with this layout? TKL touchpad
« on: Thu, 20 August 2015, 15:10:04 »
Are there any keyboards with this layout or something very similar?

Key feature is touchpad above arrow keys on TKL. Thanks.

Closest thing I can think of is the 1800 that has the touch pad.

It's the 11900 that has the touch pad ;).

Shouldn't be too hard a mod if you get a Phantom and on of these, in theory....

Thanks, CPTBadAss and Hzza.  Phantom is intriguing, looks like it would support this layout.  Will investigate this further.

Not a bad idea, but it would require 2 cables. :(

Why is Insert and Delete one key?  That makes no sense to me.

I don't see anything wrong with putting it there.  I'm used to Insert being above Delete, now I only have to Shift-Delete (and I don't use Shift-Delete for anything else).  Rarely use Insert, though, so wouldn't lose much by dropping it, either.  In any case, the main question about the layout is the touchpad placement above the arrow keys.

So Home - End is more important than Insert - Delete?
It's your keyboard.

Edit: I find this very odd in my opinion.

Shift+Delete is a legit Windows command. I use it all the time.

Yeah okay.  I just feel that the Ins/Del keys should be where the Home/End and vice versa.  Not that it's a legit keypress for it.

Yep, I use Home and End much more often than Insert or Delete, not even close.

I guess it depends on what you do. Before switching to vim and homerow style, I used them often when programming.

There are a bunch of vintage keyboards with a trackball where the arrow cursor keys usually go.

I think I would prefer a trackpad in front of arrow cursor keys, only because of physical mouse buttons on the front of the case.
