TKL with Hybrid Switches
« on: Thu, 12 November 2015, 11:09:12 »
Putting together my first B.87 and I'm trying to determine which switches I want on it. I know I don't like the typical "clicky" switches and the Browns feel most natural to me, but Clears also feel great. Any suggestions on how I should set them up? Clear alphas and Brown mods? I'll be using it for quite a bit of gaming too. Thanks for any and all input.

I'd stick with lighter switches if you're going to be gaming a lot. I personally don't care for how heavier ones feel when playing.

So brown Alphas and red mods?

I'm probably not one to give any advice as I'm still learning but I own browns, clears, blues, and reds.

Do you find the clicky switches just as bad on modifiers? I prefer to type on clears the most - browns second, but sometimes I think having a blue spacebar might be pretty cool.

Personally I'd go browns for alphas and something a little firmer for the modifiers, but it seems like you are of the opposite opinion

I'm just thinking of pressing the mods with my pinkies and how difficult it would be during gaming.

Can't justify $1 per switch QQ

:P

xD Zealios are ok, but the switch isn't worth the cost to me. It just don't feel as nice as Browns or Clears :/

Ah, well I have tried (and still use) all three, and I would have a strong preference toward Zealios for tactile switches. If not for the high cost, like you said.

I have tried to use mixed browns and clears like you are proposing, but I found that I highly prefer uniform to mixed. I like both stock clears and browns about the same. I slightly prefer 65-68g lubed clears, if going with a customized switch.

For linears, I HIGHLY prefer 65g lubed blacks over either stock blacks or reds. But I use boards with both stock blacks and reds all the time. :)

Clicky MX switches I cannot abide. Clicky Alps are okay, but I prefer dampened tactile Alps, such as Matias Quiet Clicks.
