ITT: Edible keycaps?
« on: Thu, 05 November 2015, 05:29:43 »
I'm not too sure about anyone else, but when I originally got into the keyboard community one of the first things I noticed was that a lot of the custom keycaps and keysets looked so good they could be sweets and hard candy. Its stuck with me and now when I am looking at keyboards and keycaps I find the ones I am most attracted to also make me hungry, even if they don't look like they are inherently edible...

For instance, there are some that look like they are made out of gummie bears/gummie lego

and others that look like hard candy

and milk bottles

You mean they're NOT edible?

Oops ...
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Seriously!  I saw this thread and got hungry.  If my keyboard looked like that, for all the times I put off eating to work, it would absolutely drive me insane with hunger.

Bronads... That should cure you. Or wasn't there a poopcap artisan? Don't have any inclination whatsoever to pop those in my mouth!

Oktoberfest Clacks do make me thirsty, though.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

He did show it after it allegedly came out the other end.

1. take CC skull mould
2. fill with melted chocolate
3. put in fridge
4. wait
5. remove chocolate CC

chocolate clacks!

however I would imagine people wouldn't eat them, rather collect them and trade them

I think these would make great holiday treats!  I think the artisans just found another line of products. ;)  Hard candies, chocolates, and even filled chocolates would be easy since there's the key stem attachment point.

I that's silicone, you can probably use it for candy making/baking too.  :thumb:
