TG3 is awesome and a question

My Deck Legend frost clear is about 10 years old. Today one led went out. I brought it into TG3 where I had originally watched it being built and was given a custom key cap. They fixed it no charge. The keyboard was beyond filthy. They said they do not normally clean them for customers but since they were taking it apart they would. It looks brand new again! They are an outstanding company.

Now a question. He showed me the new key caps. They do look nicer as one piece even though they are double shot and dyesub. The Legend is actually two piece key caps. The top and The skirt. I do not like the switch offerings and it is made in china. I much prefer clears. Even my Topre is with the heavy keys, Model M Etc. I just prefer much stiffer switches. I was wondering if otherwise you would pick up that board just for the somewhat nicer key caps. I am afraid I just won't use it with the much lighter force. It is not terribly expensive and otherwise still very well built. I would only be getting it for the key caps though. Not to put on the legend because the spacing is different. So do you think that is worth getting just because the key caps are a little nicer even though I do not really care for the switches? Maybe I would get used to them. I am not sure but would like to hear what you guys think. Afaik there is no other board with clears and all PBT Double Shots including the case. If there is I would like to know.

It may be pricy, but could you buy the keyboard and just put those caps on your other keyboard?
Or perhaps modify the new keyboard with clear switches you find yourself?

AS I said the spacing on the keys is different. To switch it all to clear is honestly more than I am up to but I do have enough clear switches from other cherry boards. I was just wondering besides the key caps which are a litle nicer i do not think that is a better board. My board goes for $205 to $250 and the new one goes for $120 to $150. I think that probably says all I need to know. I like those ey caps better but they are not like more durable or anything. In fact TG3 still uses my key caps on their industrial key boards. That probably says something too. Made in USA VS. made in China. Although I am sure it is still up to their standards for gaming at least. Even though I code on it not game. People say clear is too stiff for typing but i love it. I think my topre is all 65 or 80 or something. Plus my model M is between 60 and 80. As I have also said I am a huge man so it feels good to me. For instance blue I will push that right out the backplate lol. So the current offerings I am afraid are much too light anyways. I gusss If I love this board a litle better looking caps does not make or break it.

I just realized why I like the caps better but it is not a beter keyboard. They are not real double shot, rather "two piece" caps on mine. Also it is reverse dyesub. The key is white. They dyesub black on the whole cap blocking out the font. I really just need need new keycaps for this. I will keep the space bar which on early ones happened to be pbt. No wondr my space bar did not get shiny. In fact the whole case is pbt. The new one is abs. Can anyone help me with key caps? Halv, I did not mean to use a smart tone but I just realized it might have seemed that way. My apologies.

Turns out the Hassium is not nearly as nice for typing as the Legend was. It also seems no other keyboard offers these specific features. IE, DS DyeSub caps that are backlit out of PBT. Plus a completely PBT case. Switches plate mounted MX Clears. None that I know of. It also weighs 1/2 pound more than the Hassium at 3-1/2 pounds for a 105 it is very sturdy. I thought I could up the ante but I gues not. I remain very happy with this. Made in USA as well. Plus service is close by. They just fixed it for free. It is my personal favorite so no need to look further. It remains in like new condition even though I have grossly abused it. Even the spacebar was PBT back then. They later switched to ABS on the Legend. Then came the Chinese Hassium which is only "marketed" by TG#. Ships directly to vendors from Chinese distributer and they do not offer service on them. For now at least I doubt I wil find anything I like better. It even shelved my Topre's and model M's. It has a nonstandard layout so I cannot get a key set. Plus these were specifically designed to allow more light to come through without the crazy Hassium bleeding.  That's it. I look no further. I just figured I would let you all know my stance. It is perfect for me. YMMV but you could only get a used one now anyways. Well, I doubt it would look used.

EDIT: I don't know why I was even looking elsewhere. This is hands down my favorite board ever.
