Varmilo profile vs cherry profile
« on: Sat, 10 September 2016, 08:29:17 »
Is Varmilo using Step Sculpture 2 (SS2) or Cherry Profile?

As far as I know, its SS2. My question, is SS2 profile same with cherry profile?

I'm torn getting a cherry profile for two-tone but I don't know if it will be compatible to my Varmilo stock keycap.

I'm shocked of this. never thought of it that it is OEM. Is this updated?

Took shot of my board. It seemed to be more cherry profile than OEM. The ESC row and NUMBER ROW are the same.

Never mind the plate(It's just bond paper :)) :)))

This is really shocking, I was fairly convinced Varmilo was SS2! The more you know...

There is no way in hell varmilo keycaps are OEM. I have ducky pbt OEMs and they are too high compared to my varmilo stock keycaps.

Varmilo are SS2, almost cherry profile.

Edit*

Proof

varmilo with SS2 profile

Tai-hao with OEM

What is the height of the Esc key on Varmilo caps?

For comparison OEM caps are 14mm high, Cherry profiled caps are only 10mm:

Left to right: Cherry MX-Board 2/3 (ultralow profile), Gateron blanks (Cherry profile), Max/WASDKeyboard (OEM), vintage BTC (almost Cherry profile)

I'm torn getting a cherry profile for two-tone but I don't know if it will be compatible to my Varmilo stock keycap.

If you have white Varmilo caps, then you can try dyeing them yourself.
PBT can be colored very easily with nylon dyes. (Dylon MultiPurpose, Rit, iDye)

I was playing a bit with Dylon:

I wanted light blue mod keys, but I messed up the cooking time, PBT needs around 10 minutes.
(Earlier I tried to dye an ABS set, which was barely colored after 30 minutes, even after I added 200ml acetone as thinner)

There are a lot of good dyeing guides on Deskthority, like this one:
