Using a numpad alongside a TKL

Hey everybody I'm trying to use an external numpad alongside my tkl - and I'm having a problem with numlock. The TKL's numlock is overriding the one on the numpad, so in order to use the numbers on the external numpad, I need to have numlock on. This then interferes with my keyboard because of the numpad layer that overlays the alphas.

Is there a way I can force the OS to differentiate between these two states? (win 10)

I'm not really sure... but what keyboard are you using?

Sometimes there's a switch that can disable the numpad layer entirely for the keyboard.

On my Realforce 87U one of the DIP switches will disable the embedded numeric keypad. OTOH, my Cherry ML4100 - if I recall correctly, it's been a while since I dug it out - has no provision to turn the numpad off.

I don't know of a way to tell any operating system to obey num-lock from this input source but ignore num-lock from this other source. I think it's all or nothing.

Oh snap, I totally forgot the RF had dipswitches - I'm using the RF87 so this should fix my issue. Thanks my dude.

edit: incase anyone is wondering toggle the #3 dipsswitch then unplug and plugin the RF. Works like a charm.
