Need Some Model AT F Help....

I thought I would post this here, but I'll delete this and move it over to the Classifieds if that's more appropriate.   I received an IBM Model AT F keyboard today and unfortunately it was banged around a bit and several keys were loose by the time it arrived at my door.

Does anyone have a right Enter key that they could sell/trade me.  Please....I would like to try out the keyboard, but it's hard without the Enter key.

HaaTa's excellent Model F backspace thread might sort out your situation, unless you wanted to keep yours completely stock.

I guess I read your post to quickly. You were talking about the number pad's enter key, in which case the HaaTa thread won't be of help.

I don't have an F near me, but would a key from a Model M work? If not, you might try asking Unicomp if they stock them. There's a small chance that they might. They still stock the old hat style ctrl and alt keys.

I just got off the phone with Chucky and he simply laughed when I asked him if he had any of the large L shaped Enter keys.   I hope I don't need to purchase an XT simply for the Enter key??

The Model F doesn't have a numpad enter.

Best of both worlds: a fixed enter key and it's probably more what you're used to using.

That must have been some pretty shoddy shipping... it's kind of hard to damage a Model F; the notion is inconceivable!

Depends if the AT F will accept a single-row enter.  Swap the spring+hammer that's left of backspace for where the top row of the enter key is now.  Then put the | \ key from a Model M there.  Finally, put the single-row Enter key in.

I'm in Northern Jersey.  I fixed my key.  Just glued the entire thing together and it appears to work fine.  

Interesting keyboard to say the least.  Layout is a HOT mess imho.   Truly a luxurious typing experience though.   Well, except for the space bar which is a beast.   I actually need to look for the Backspace key since I keep hitting the tilde key to the left of it.   UgghhhmusthavestrongerthumbsLOL.  Keyboard sure is "twangy".

Sure it is twangy, that's just what it's praised for.

You can mod that space bar for a finer feel if you aren't afraid of opening up the keyboard, just follow the instructions for a lighter space bar.

However, if this is your first time opening up the keyboard, be wary that you will have to take your time.
Most parts are quite durable, just make sure you don't get the buckling springs caught up in something or bend them.
