JC65 PS2AVRGB problem
« on: Mon, 01 April 2019, 15:50:09 »
Hey guys,

So I wanted to map the keys on the right hand side of my m65 and was able to create and compile the hex using the qmk configurator but when I attempted to flash it via qmk toolbox, it kept giving me errors saying the device was not found. Doing poor research, I downloaded the bootmapper client and managed to upload the qmk hex file to my jc65 under the options tab via the Firm Up button. This of course caused the board to become unresponsive and then I read that some of the JC65s were ps2avrgb and others were qmk. Device manager sees the board but has it listed as an unknown USB device. Does anyone know a fix for this or did I brick this board?

I don’t have too much experience with this, but your board might be qmk based and you need to use the jc65/v32v4 configurator. I did the exact opposite of you and tried using bootmapper first, which kept giving me an error that it was unable to detect the board,

- Jc65/v32u4 has a reset button on the back.

- ps2avrgb does not

Correct. Mine does not have the reset button.

update: I was able to get the keyboard working again using the qmk toolbox (holding the left control while plugging in the USB). I flashed the latest firmware found here: ps2avrGB V1.4.0

https://github.com/showjean/ps2avrU/releases

You can also load the ps2avrGB firmware from the qmk.fm drop down menu. This worked but provided limited functionality.

At this point the computer recognized the keyboard as an HID keyboard device. Then was able to load a keymap hex using the bootmapper client and configure the keys again.
