For example Razor makes keyboards with macro recording functionality.  I'm assuming this functionality was introduced for gamers.  If you use it for gaming, what can you use it for in games?  Does it help you cheat or something?  Like maybe programming a key to press the attack or shoot function a million times in a row?  Or is that not it?

I'm also wondering if anyone uses the macro recording functionality for anything outside of gaming, like for everyday computing tasks or for their job etc.

My logitech mouse even comes with the macro recording functionality but what can I use it for?

I use Hammerspoon (OS X) for macros, but same kind of thing.
I have some text shortcuts, example:
  me@someemail.com
  ------------------------------------------- (for separators)
TODO: (for bugs I need to return to)

I have a key (scroll lock) assigned to left mouse click. Often enough I'm repeating a sequence I can do all of with my keyboard, except clicking "OK". I leave my mouse over the location of the OK button and hit Scroll lock when the time comes.

Use them all the time. Email sig shortcuts, username, SQL snippets, two letter git shortcuts, command line pipe sequences. Possibilities are endless.

Yes, Hammerspoon is so much more because it has APIs that do things on the OS side.
