Requesting info and/or assistance with the F&T Mars/1916 PCB
« on: Mon, 08 July 2019, 14:10:34 »
My F&T 1916 PCB appears to be malfunctioning or dead.

This is a bare PCB with no switches soldered in.

When I connect it to a Win10 PC, I get the error message: "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

In Linux, on another PC: "device not accepting address 14, error -32".

MacOS gives no log messages when the PCB is connected.

I've tested with different cables.

I'd appreciate it if anyone here could provide instructions on how to reset the PCB to a point that I can re-flash the firmware.

Although it'd be easier to use USB, I do have an Arduino set up to be an ISP, and have used that for other PCBs in the past.

Worst case, anyone have a spare compatible PCB they're willing to sell? ;D

Thanks!

I traced the pinouts for the ISP header with a multimeter.

Starting with pin 1 as the hole with a box silkscreened around it:

1: VCC
2: Ground
3: Reset
4: MOSI
5: MISO
6: SCK

Using this info, I was able to bypass the USB header and update the firmware for the atmega32a 18224Rv chip.

Sadly, I'm still unable to get this PCB to be recognized as a USB device.
