Questions about the failed HHKB CNC Case...
« on: Fri, 26 July 2019, 09:51:46 »
So don't ask why  but I have a few questions about the CNC HHKB case that failed on massdrop. My first question is in regards to the sound it makes. Many people have mentioned that it makes a ping noise when you type. Is this on the upstroke, the down stroke or both? I have also heard that it is "scratchy", is it unbearable or just different?

Hypothetically can one of the cases really only be made if the plate is made out of a plastic? Im curious because if the ping is on the upstroke I feel like it could easily be solved with some orings or silencing stickers of some sort. I addition I feel like the scratchiness could be solved by pressing in some sort of low friction plastic where the plunger meets the case.

If anyone has info on this I would really like to get some info on it!

These two threads should answer any questions you have (particularly the second one)

Metal cases just don't suit Topre sounds; they make them ping much louder. There are plenty of great videos on the Norbauer metal case for RF boards, and it's obnoxiously pingy to to me.
