Model M Pad and Glue Removal
« on: Wed, 31 July 2019, 20:14:07 »
Hello all,

I recently acquired a couple of 1987 Model M Terminal Boards which I am working on restoring and converting to USB. However, whoever the previous owner was has attached two giant pads along the bottom of the board, likely to keep it from sliding around. The aesthetic isn't actually horrible but it makes the keyboard unbalanced and wobbly on flat surfaces.

When I start to remove it, it appears that there is some kind of somewhat brittle plastic underneath, and I'm worried about being too aggressive in removing this and ruining the case underneath.

Any suggestions on how to handle this?

I use naptha but always work fast and wipe it up quickly when you are finished because it can damage plastics.
