New to Vintage Mechanical Keyboards
« on: Thu, 12 September 2019, 16:29:18 »
Hi,

I've recently been looking at a lot of vintage keyboards on Ebay because they've caught my eye. I love gaming, is there a good vintage keyboard you would recommend to me? I've no idea which ones are good and which ones are ****.

Many thanks

Rhys

You can do well with any board carrying blacks. You may ask the seller to remove one key and send you a picture to verify it.

Look for Cherry G-80XXXX models for pretty decent PCB mounted boards from Cherry with super awesome keycaps. Almost any older ALPS boards that can be easily made to work over USB (Apple AEKs & AEKIIs, Dell bigfoots with the linear mod on SKCM blacks, etc.) are all a good choice too if you can find a clean one. The cleanliness of ALPS switches is super important as they are a little more sensitive to dust getting into them & gunking up the works. I've gamed on a good bit of the mentioned boards & didn't have any issues with them. Hope this helps you out a bit!
