Topre 55g comparison
« on: Sun, 22 September 2019, 21:23:43 »
I currently type on a silenced realforce uniform 55g board. I want to do a build with Zilents but want to make sure I get the right weight. I know Topre and Zeals are not quite comparable feel wise, so I just want to know which are the most similar in force. I couldn’t find many topre 55g force curves, and one that I did find seemed to indicate a max of nearly 70g before the force drops, which I thought seemed quite high. However, if true that would indicate 67g zeals would be most similar in weight. I previously used clears and found them exhausting so I want to make sure I don’t get switched that are too heavy. However I had 45g topre and found them too light. So if anyone could offer some advice on choosing between 62g, 65g, and 67g zilents, that would be great. Thanks.

MX weight is a lot higher compared to 55g topre. I would so you are wanting 72+ to compare to the weight of 55g topre.

Good timing for this thread, as I was just considering this question myself... so thanks OP for posting.

The Zeal PC site shows an option for 78G.  ArchDill, do you think 78G would feel noticeably heavier than 55g Topre?

I know that 67g is too light. I do not have any 78g's on me.

I usually type on 45g Topre and MX Clear switches are quite a bit heavier at 65g, which might be a closer analogue to 55g.

Yes but MX switches are measured at activation whereas zeals are measured at bottom out. Clears activate at 65g but bottom out closer to 100g (and I am a bottom out typer). Having typed on clears and 55g topre, clears are many many times heavier.

I have Topre 55g and Tealios 67g - I know its not same as Zealios, but Tealios 67g are super light for me, so I'm guessing Zeals 78g would be closer to 55g topre.

Yes, Zeals are available in 67 gr, but that's considered barely middle-weight, as people who prefer light MX switches are often satisfied with 67 gr. It's a lot closer to Brown/Red/Blue than Clear.

78g, though, is different. It's more like a "light Clear," I'm to understand. I don't have much experience with them, but they feel noticeably heaver than the 65/67 gr Zealios. It might be closer to 55 gr Topre. Too bad there isn't a 72-4 gr or something.
