This keyboard is clearly made by the same company as the one "from who" in the earlier mystery thread, since the case has the same general design.

At least here we see that is't made with Cherry Whites. And in the last photo, we see the box came from a company with "Semiconductors" in its name, associated with Philips - so the box may not be the box the keyboard came in.

Taiwanese white stems! So these are the new products you mentioned on KBTalking a couple months back :) No wonder I couldn't find any information online.

What happens when you run out of these stems? Is this going to be a limited edition thing? Come on, stop teasing us.

The orange in there makes it extra teasing.  Also, double post.  One of them is going to get locked down, right?

I sort of agree that it is the so called Taiwan White Switch.  It is compatible with Cherry keycaps.  From ligo past threads I think the "post and run" is his usual style, he never replied regardless of regions and languages.

Taiwan White (left) & Cherry Blue (right) both clicky

OIC, as a result of their keen completion with ATI?  But in this case, I incline to believe that the company he works with and KBT both are not aware of this, if they do surely he will have a big trouble.  But please forgive this naive boy.

He's not going to be in big trouble. This is no iPad, just a new keyboard, and he's mentioned them on KBT before, just not with pictures. The hype his post creates* will definitely help marketing (if this is going to have a US distributor, which is a big if). His previous leaks seem to indicate that this is not going to be as expensive as Filcos.

  • Ligo, there's not enough hype! Give us more info!

P.S. I don't expect to be able to, but Ligo, can I buy extra mini cases? They are perfect for hobbyist mini keyboard projects. Bundle with USB micro controller boards and sell open source keyboard kits!

I thought KBTalking was merely a Chinese-language discussion forum for keyboards, similar to Geekhack except for the language used.

And that the photographs were clearly taken by someone who had received delivery of these keyboards at his place of residence.

But if no one even from Taiwan can recognize these keyboards, something is amiss.

I found the fake cherry stem (taiwan's white axis) to not fit with cherry keycaps.

KBTalking have their own branded keyboards OEMed by a Taiwanese manufacturer. This new keyboard Ligo leaked doesn't seem to be affiliated with KBTalking.

Hi elbowglue, I have read your post about the fake Cherry switch issue of Chicony 5191.

I found a discussion (mostly in Chinese) in July 2004 in which a member mentioned this issue in English (page 1 7#): "There are some variations of KB-5191. Variations are 1) Real cherry switches MX/Blue, 2) strange MX/white but click tactile like Blue, 3) fake SMK key switches 4) Fake Cherry switches. And maybe more ... Don't know if there is an ALPS switch version. ", this member, namely Sandy, said she had a similar experience like yours:"I also have a Chicony KB-5191 with that fake Cherry switches. ... ".  I will try to find more details tonight.

But these white switches may be different from the Chicony KB-5191's somehow, or at least a new generation, I guess.

Please let me know if I can do more on this, I will be very happy to do : )

Sandy55 is a member of Geekhack and most of the ALPs wiki and more is due to his most excellent contributions.  Lady Chatterly - a most literary nickname for a keyboard.

Know what's ironic? a few months back, I bought my 5191 on the 'bay
and at the same time my girlfriend was reading that book for some boring english realism course
... it really makes you think.
keyboards!
