Does anyone have any tips on cleaning vintage coiled cables? I am trying to restore and modernize an Apple AEK 2 coiled cable (converting to Mini USB and USB A).
I am using Isopropyl and a paper towel to remove all the grime I can, but it's tedious. I am worried about the coil losing its springyness from being pulled. Is my best best to just clean it and then reform the coil in the oven using heat tape and a brass bar to form the coil again?
