oh man, the stream was a year ago?

quick update: the project is still moving forward. its been a lot of back and forth between me (designer) + cad person + factory. Also for some reason every quote takes at least a week, maybe 2. but the good news is that with the help of necroman and mykeebeu we have ordered 4 protos in the new layout. Once these have been received and qc'd and built, we will be running a qb.

sorry its taken so long, it hasnt died and its always been moving forward. its just taken quite a bit longer than expected every step of the way.

Apart from the greedy side of me wishing this had a 4x3 grid of F keys to reach F12, this is my perfect board.
The wait for the GB will be absolutely worth it.

it is not dead. r2 protos have been in the queue for ever. almost a year at this point. supposedly they are almost done?

Ill just say that I am being very cautious so that everything works out well so that this gb doesnt end up like some of the others recently. So I apologize for the long wait, and just want everyone to know its still on track to release, at some point. I would hope GB would before end of the year, with shipping by next summer sometime. But I also thought that in 2019 and its 2021 so who knows?

Update March 16, 2022:
Boring stuff first: So protos have been in EU for a bit now and we are just waiting on some final pieces for the pcb's. Hoping those are done within 1-2 weeks, then units shipped out to streamers for builds. Then once I get a unit in my hands and the other 2 back in the EU, we (myself and mykeebeu) will make sure everything is good for GB run. Im being super realistic with timelines, and expect this to be a 2 month process. International shipping + multiple units + build streams is not going to be a quick process.

This brings me to a bigger point: Im trying to be exhaustive of everything PRE gb and I know its taken a long time, but I've been pushing for updates and trying to get this stuff out. This process has taken a while, but Im confident once a GB actually runs it will be much quicker. Though with current covid shutdowns in China, maybe I am being too optimistic.

Someone once said, "Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe." So do take your time and it will pay off.

Besides, I'm really excited to see this become a real thing. I've been looking forward to a truly premium split board.
