Isocaps- ISO enter artisans
« on: Thu, 12 December 2019, 17:50:02 »
Hi, I've been casting and lurking here for a while now, after about a year of trying to sculpt and cast ISO enter keys I decided to start focusing on blanks.  After another year of experimenting I settled on a couple of designs based on alcohol inks/petri effects and had a small sale, and am gearing up for a larger one early in the new year.  I've found that by mixing resins/inks at certain times and at certain temperatures you can get some pretty awesome, organic effects, but not having pressure/vacuum equipment I do have a ridiculous failure rate, and the variation from cap to cap is pretty big.  But I guess having no two caps alike is a good thing in some ways.
Anyway here's a bunch of pics of my results so far, got a lot of experiments and colours planned.

Focusing on Miami colours next, but open to any suggestions/requests.  Been trying some green varieties recently but finding it hard to get them to really pop.  Need to try some different types of ink/dye I guess.

Love your work, you're filling a woefully underserved niche.

Thanks!  I've been experimenting for a while now, and have a huge mountain of failures/rejects, but feel like I'm getting somewhere.

Having used one of these for a while now I can confirm they are great to type on and good as they look in pictures the 3D effects have to be seen in person to truly appreciate them - I thought it was encapsulated mould (grey in/on red) before reading how they are made :))

I was planning on a Hyperfuse type colourway next, but any suggestions welcome :)

Think I'll try cherry profile next- SA seems to be going out of fashion these days..
