Swap kailh box brown spring for gateron clear spring?
« on: Wed, 29 January 2020, 18:32:35 »
So I've been using kailh box browns for about a month now and it's good, but not perfect for me. I just wish it was more lighter, so I ordered a switch tester last week that came with gateron clear and loved it, but wanted some more tactility. I was wondering if swapping the springs would work so that I could have a light tactile brown switch. Or am I just better off buying some new switches entirely?

box switches use different springs so you'd have to get them from somewhere else

gat clear is 35g bottom out i think?

Thanks for the info! I'll probably order these sometime this week.

35g is pretty light, could the Box Browns maybe have some return issues at that weight? They're not substantially tactile, so maybe not?

Springs are cheap, so not much risk either way.

I have some extra box browns, so I'll probably just swap them on one or two and see if they work. If not, I'll just get some heavier springs with 45g and see if those perform better or if they're right for me

I should do the same with some thick clicks, eventually. Good luck to you in your experiments.

So while I wait for my Tada68 parts and Hako Royal Clears to arrive, I got myself a few switches to play around with to see what I'm missing.
