Do you carry a keyboard?
« on: Tue, 25 February 2020, 23:34:42 »
If I go to an internet cafe or use another computer, I always carry my keyboard.
This is inconvenient but seems to be appropriate for me.

I prefer a full-size keyboard, So it's hard to carry, but it makes my work more efficient.

Does anyone carry a keyboard besides me?
I wonder what keyboard I carry with me.

Well, I have carried a Model M in my backpack on a few occasions to class. Trust me, spending my entire 3 hour break at school typing an essay goes by so much easier on a good keyboard. I also daily carry my 60%, although it is relegated to my desk since my desktop's keyboard died and I'm yet to finish building my custom TKL. I have also carried a few other keyboards with me around, as seen below in a few pics I took of my keyboards at school:

I carry my main keyboard every day to work (Realforce r2). Don't want to leave expensive board at work over night, so keep carrying it, have been doing it for 10 years...
I use sleeve in my bag, but would prefer some hard case for it, so no keys are pressed during "transit" ;)

like chanmin kang, I prefer a full size keyboard. If I were to get used to a decent 60/65% board which can be transported easily, I'd carry mine around a lot more. For the moment, I have three places where I frequently use computers and I have stored usable keyboards in all of them, so I don't have to carry them around.

when i had only one M122 i did carry it to and from work, only on the weekend though, the only issue is how heavy the thing is, now that i have fixed another one i do not need to do so, i yeah someone could steal it, but it being PS/2 and next to a much easier to steal laptop i guess that if someone were to steal something it would not be that old looking thing.

If you don't use the top case shell, you can put a carrying handle on your Model F 122-key.
From the US Constitution, Article 1, Section 8 :

The   Congress   shall have Power
To declare War,  grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;
To provide for calling forth the Militia  to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

You carry an M122 to and from work? Wow. That's dedication. I would just buy another M122, or better yet, an F122. I was surprised to see BrooklynTony198 say they carry a regular M around.

That is a thing of beauty.

I leave an F AT at the middle school and a DC-2014 at the high school. I'm rarely at other buildings in the district, and rarely ever need my work laptop (even though the middle school desktop has a core 2 duo in it), so I have no real need to carry a keyboard around with me. I did get an Ajazz AK33 75% for that purpose, for the few cases I may actually use my laptop (which I now just leave at home most of the time anyway) but the switches are the worst Cherry clones I have ever had the displeasure of trying and the rgb leds are, bizarrely, mounted above the switches ... so swapping in jades or navies would be a pain. I have a TG3 BL82 I modded jades into, but those bricks are thick ... and heavy, and have no Windows key, which I use constantly at work (the desktops have usb foot pedals mapped to the windows key). Otherwise I would think about carrying that for the few times I do use my laptop.

That is a great idea. I will put a handle on one of my boards.

I did it somewhat as a joke, but then I was semi-expected to bring it every so often... It doesn't even fit in my backpack, so transportation is "fun". The fact someone here is carrying an F122 is very interesting. Tbh, I also carried my Windows 98 SE laptop, a Compaq M700, to school once, which attracted a lot of attention when I pulled it out to try and take notes during class. (if anyone has the sound drivers for it, please send it my way, I can't seem to get the sound on it to work...)

I did that a few times with an old Windows 95-era Dell laptop for kicks and giggles myself, but running extremely stripped-down Windows XP, or Damn Small Linux. Really helps emphasize that you don't need to go out and waste $1,500+ on some overpriced Macbook for freaking school work.

I have no idea whether or not this website is reputable, but did you look here?

Otherwise, it does look like there have been some driver pack projects for Windows 98. You could try those, if any are reasonably complete, or even still live.

You could get one of Ellipses' new model Fs, those would fit in a backpack.  ;)

I can imagine it your backpack so tight and having the shape of your Realforce TKL  ;D . Don't people look weird at you taking out a TKL board out of your backpack?

people at my workplace though my HHKB Pro 1 was weird enough because of the layout and having blank keycaps at my work lol.

Bring something even louder next time, then see how they like reverting back.

LOL! I don't have anything loud enough! MX Red is the loudest I can get until I build my Model F.

Since it's a reasonably light TKL, I don't doubt it. Sint is the type of person that would do something like that.
