Standard grey labels have now displaced minis as the most valuable models.

Yeah I noticed that...

Sheesh... $300 for a model M? The world has gone crazy. Someone needs to find a stash of Model Ms in a warehouse to reduce the prices again.

I didn't notice the Japanese shipping note. I'll put that one in my bag of tricks as well.

Crazy bidding sure, but it's a new phenomenon to see it directed towards standard 1401s.

Someone should go buy from ClickeyKeyboard and have profitable turn-around. You can also order some labels from Unicomp old stock (the Black labels with raised metallic lettering looks very nice too).

Clicky only has lexmarks nib which in many peoples minds are less desirable.  Even if you think the quality is the same, the earlier boards made by IBM that are in their boxes are considerably more rare.  So that will affect their value considerably.

The label on that has obvious splatter stains on it.  I mean, come on.  NIB is a lie.

I think I cracked the code:

These coloured dots seem completely random; both in colour and areas placed. Why would you even need to do that? Why did IBM make so many variations? Why did IBM need all of these crazy labelling techniques? Why why why!?!? Even the key caps themselves have ambiguous letters and numbers in them.

Oh man, I'm tearing into my keyboard storage to examine dots.

I'm sure it's a quality control check.  Back in the day humans used to test things.
