New guy in the realm of custom keyboards!
« on: Tue, 21 April 2020, 17:25:48 »
Hey guys, how are y'all doin?

I learned about custom keyboards, like literally yesterday lol. I saw Taeha Types' video on Tfue's custom keyboard and I thought it was cool, 60% isn't really my thing but I had to agree that thing sounded SEXY. What really caught my attention tho was the 96-key keyboards, mainly the Cypher R1 and R2. Those things are deliciously PERFECT. I've used a full size keyboard since I built my first setup in 2016, and I got so used to having the numberpad that I upgraded to a Ducky One 2 100% instead of TKL or even 65% from my Tesoro Gram Spectrum. I like my Ducky, I enjoy the Cherry MX Browns and the stabilizers but the size is finally getting to me.

And so my 24 hrs of research and watching videos has brought me here! I like building things, I like the satisfaction that putting things together and seeing the end result brings. I built all my own PCs and setups (as well as for others)and I want to venture into the realm of building my own keyboard spec'd out my desire, so I'll be here to asking for your advice and suggestions! ;D

My first question would be, knowing that I want a rare keyboard layout/design, where would be the best place to look out for new releases, group buys, and the like?

Hi Maestr0o1. Welcome to Geekhack.

I don't do the whole LEGO keyboard thing myself, but I think you might have some pretty limited options in terms of full-sized keyboards. The tiny useless ones seem to be what's popular.

Group buys are posted here: Group Buys and Preorders

What people find to be new/interesting may otherwise be posted here from time to time (it is a bit of a catchall): Keyboards
