The GMK Bushido set pulled me in and after lerking for years I finally joined. Hoping to get in on a GB for a 60% AI case soon.

Welcome :)

I've been thinking about getting a new board now with all the different colored plastic case options.

Keyboards: HHKB Pro 1 & OTD 356CL Dark Greyhat Edition, baybee!

The SPACE65 looks like a really nice board, what color combination did you get? I was considering waiting on a New Keycult build unless I see one that catches my eye before.

Hi SASIN. Welcome to Geekhack.

That's a cool set now that I see it.

Thanks for welcoming me to the form. The keyboards in your signature remind me of the Tandy 1000 I had as a kid, do you own all of them?

Of course, you're welcome. You had a really cool computer then. My uncle has fond memories of Tandy as well. I saw a Tandy Enhanced Keyboard at a recycler recently, I almost thought of picking it up for him.

I do own all of them, and many more, old and new. (The F77 is new production) I just can't have more than 6 images in my signature (I haven't put in the time to edit any together nicely) and those are my favorites of the ones I could find pixel art for.

Have you got any classic boards yourself?

I currently do not own a classic keyboards, wish I had the one from the Tandy still.I have a few modern shelf boards, Asus Claymore, and A k70. Along with a Tofu build with kailh speed copper switches.
After I build my Bushido keyboard I may look into building a replica of the Tandy board.

Thank you again and be safe

I love K70s, don't care what other people say about them. They're sturdy, handsome boards. That Claymore doesn't look bad either, but maybe I'm less snobby than others. lol. What have the retail boards got in them? Cherry MX variants?

How do you like the speed coppers? How do they compare to other tactiles you may have felt? I have only felt vintage switches, MX browns, and some of Kailh's Box tactiles.

I see original Tandy boards on Ebay quite often. I think a lot of them have less-than-ideal switches though.

I'm doing my best. Take care of yourself as well.

The K70 has Cherry silvers in it and I love the short actuation of this switch. The Claymore that I have is nice because it switches from 100% to TKL in a flash, the board has horrible key stabilizers though, and ok Cherry reds.

The speed coppers feel nice once lubed and the tactile bump is closer to the top, this works well for when playing games. My biggest complaint  is the spring noise, even lubed you can still hear it. The only switch I can compare the speed coppers to is a Gateron Brown, the feel of the speed copper is a lot better to me, and sound more consistent (not taking into account the spring noise). I'm considering replacing the springs and adding films to tighten up the play, have you any thoughts or suggestions on this?

A removable number pad is certainly a handy feature. I have never felt silvers myself, but I already feel like reds are too sensitive. Maybe I wouldn't mind either with some slightly heavier springs. What sort of stabilizers does it have? I quite like Costars, although I don't seem to be very picky about them myself.

The only thing I can add to your thoughts is that SPRiT sells a very wide variety of springs that you could try. Their standard MX springs are compatible with Kailh speed switches. I'm a clicky guy, and don't care about wobble, so I don't bother with the whole lube or film thing. It would be a good thing to post maybe in the Keyboards section.
