What makes a good stacked acrylic case good?
« on: Sun, 26 April 2020, 05:50:51 »
I've been prototyping some acrylic cases recently, and I'd love to hear people's opinion on what makes a good one good regarding materials, thicknesses, hardware etc.

5MM plate. PCB is mounted to the plate idk what to call it top mount kinda? Gives the keyboard the same feeling everywhere. Also if you are making a Acrylic keyboards use High quality acrylic. I had a lot of acrylic boards and since i got my lubrigrante Wildcard now i can feel how bad the other acrylic boards where in terms of quality. This Lubrigrante has heft to it and the Acrylic feels very sturdy and looks nicer in general compared to the other Acrylic boards i used in the past even though they where the same frosted/black.
Also other thing stacked acrylic is good at is price/performance.

Oooh, you're right. A 5mm plate would make the pcb sit flush with it underneath. I might just have to try that one out and see how it feels. I'd really like to find someone who could machine me a 5mm brass plate, so I can compare that to 1.5mm. The weight would be amazing as well.

I just have to tell you... it's real stiff. But that is preference.  ;D
