Hey GH!
« on: Sat, 02 May 2020, 08:00:44 »
Hi guys!

I was surprised to find that old-school forums still existed, and even more so about keyboards, my favorite thing in the world!

About me, now. I'm a student in France. My first keyboard (and my only one) was a razer Deathadder bought at a bargain during destocking at my local hardware store. I've used it a lot, but now it's mostly taking the dust somewhere at my mom's house.

My goal is to talk with people about keyboards, and hopefully, make my own! I already have a vague idea of the switches, but I'll learn on the way.

Thanks, have a cool day!  :thumb:

Welcome :)

Yeah the forum is pretty outdated :p
Can find lots of new things here though

The outdated look is sort of a nice feature I feel like.
You get people complaining it sucks and they end up not using geekhack, if they can't put the effort in to get used to a user experience should they really be someone that could possibly host an IC or the likes in the future? :))

This is actually very strange. Why do many people think forums have long ceased to exist? Even take the developers of computer games, they always have forums on which they post topics and more. And the people there are talking. I doubt that in the near future, forums will disappear.

I think that young 'uns of today are all on other types of platform these days- Reddit, Discord, not sure what else (but would be interested to know). Good systems for up to the minute info, but not so good for organising longer term info.

He means the unusual topic of the forum and its age. You compare games and keyboards, and to be honest, fans have more games :)

If we talk about the first keyboards, then you are very lucky dan_Ko95, razer Deathadder is a good option. Mine was nameless, shapeless, white and old as the world. A real rarity. But she probably became my first motivation, to make the keyboard better and more beautiful than what I had.

Your first keyboard was a rarity? What was it?

Those other platforms named are good for up to the minute info ... if you happen to be looking right that minute, otherwise it is just a flurry of mostly useless information, which you must sift through to find anything of meaning.
