Help me choose a Filco for gaming

Hey guys,

I know there's loads to read on this site and I have searched and read but just wanted some direct advise in case I've missed anything before I drop the cash.

I'm after a Filco keyboard for 80% gaming (FPS only...fast and slow)  and 20% searching for por....  I mean typing.

I'm not a fan of black switches....too heavy for me. So its between blue and brown

So I game with headphones on (dont know if that should be a factor) I do have a soft spot for the clicky clack of the blues as my mum use to have a clicky mech keyboard in the 80s at home and that sound soothes my mind...(mummy dont leave!)

However I'm thinking its going to get lost on someone wearing headphones. I'm also a little concerned about the release point on the blue not being great for gaming. If someone could highlight what that means that would be great.

I guess my brain says get a brown and my heart wants the blue LOL.

Oh and before someone says get both....I'm sure I probably will at some point, but I can only get one this year.

Any advice or words would be most welcome.

Cheers guys...I'm leaning much more towards the browns now. Can someone just shed a bit of light on this release point thing with the blue? Is it that they need to be let off more before they can be re-pressed?

Yes. Actuation point is at 2mm. You have to release the switch about 1mm before it will actuate again. It will not click when released only 1mm and pressed again though. In order to "reload" the click mechanism, you have to release it all the way. It's quite difficult to find that clickless reactuation point reliably.

Also, as much as I love blue clickiness for typing, for gaming I find it rather distracting.

Many thanks to you both for taking the time to answer. I'm defo going to order the brown now. Although the thought of the click delights me for typing I can imagine it wouldn't for gaming.

I shall go and order my first mech keyboard...a Filco Cherry Brown.
