Keyboard converter help needed
« on: Sun, 31 May 2020, 07:19:50 »
Anyone know if a DIN 45322 to ps/2 converter exists? I have an SSK 72X in this config and would like to test it.
Thanks!!

This is the most I could find, unfortunately. I imagine it is what you mean. By SSK 72X, you mean some kind of weird Model M? I imagine the protocol is probably AT/ps2 then. Even if not, I haven't heard of an IBM Model M that didn't work with Soarer's firmware. You'll have to figure out the pinout to even try though, unless somebody happens to know it. Model M controllers are usually separate parts, so it should be pretty easy to trace the individual wires back to the controller, and figure out what they're for based on the controller's specifications.

Good luck.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. It's a 73X3848 Space Saving Keyboard from an IBM terminal. It has a 240 degree 5 pin layout DIN 45322 terminal connector on it that someone on this board mapped out awhile ago (2013 I think).
Here's some pics,
Thanks again for the info.

Oh, right. Yes, that's a standard IBM connector, just less common than the regular AT 5-pin. It looks like orihalcon actually stocks these:

NEW Soarer's Converter Adapter - 240 Degree - IBM Model F122 M122 Keyboard

Otherwise, you could also build your own with a Teensy or Pro Micro, and a 240 degree 5-pin female DIN connector.

You're welcome. Enjoy that beautiful space unsaver. Those are very rare boards.
