IBM Beamspring still out for delivery
« on: Tue, 07 July 2020, 19:36:32 »
So last week I was finally able to purchase an IBM Beamspring off eBay. I just haven't received it yet!

It has been in the area since Thursday night. FedEx has been telling me that it would be delivered by the end of the day EVERY DAY since Friday! Talking to them has gotten me nowhere. They keep telling me that it was put onto a truck that morning (with specific times as well) and that it should be delivered that day. Nobody has any idea why it doesn't get delivered. They created a case and gave me an incident number as well.

The seller seems to have made getting a signature a requirement but that has made it impossible for me to get them to hold it at a FedEx location for me to pick it up instead. I told the seller about the situation today and I will have to see what they can do.

I'm worried about what might have happened to it.  :'(

What should I do? Be patient while they investigate? Panic?

Wait for the investigation to conclude the case. I am pretty sure the seller insured it otherwise it wouldn't ask for a signature. You will be probably refunded your money if the package is labeled as lost.

Very true. It'll be awhile until another deal like that comes along but at least I shouldn't be out any money if something did go wrong.

Don't you guys have this little virus thing going around over there, messing up logistics? I've had deliveries take months.

We do and if that was the reason then I would understand. It's just that FedEx was telling me that it would be delivered that day (every day that I called them about it). They made several other deliveries all this time as well.

Having a delivery take months must also suck though.

In the end if I just had some kind of explanation then I probably wouldn't have worried about it.

No matter though because it arrived about 10 min ago. I almost missed it too because I had just gotten out of the shower.

So yeah, I was worried for nothing  ;D

I had something similar happen with UPS recently.  They were supposed to deliver something 3 days in a row, and every day their website said it was on a truck for delivery.  They usually come about 8:00 PM, so I think I must be at the end of their route, and the driver probably fell behind and didn't make it my neighborhood all those days.  What was especially annoying was that it was a SurePost package that should have been delivered to the Post Office for final delivery, but UPS said that they were going to be in the neighborhood so they'd deliver it themselves.

FedEx is worse, in my experience, in living up to when they say something will be delivered.  They will deliver a package early, though, if they have it, which UPS will never do.  UPS will let it sit in a truck at their facility for two days if the delivery date hasn't come yet.

I'm up to two months now waiting for a set of keycaps from AliExpress.  They say it was finally dispatched from somewhere in California two days ago, so at least it's in the US, although not with the Post Office or through customs yet.

Two months is all?

The switches I ordered the day before almost arrived a month or so ago, but were returned to sender. The replacements are already in the U.S. ... somewhere, according to tracking information, but they have been for weeks now. I get a really good impression from that fantastic USPS "shipping partner". Bits of orders from that span of 2 days have finally arrived, over time. Most of them still say they're in some warehouse in China somewhere though.
