Yeah, but I painted over them with black edding, they are a bit to bright for my taste... Now you can barely see them... Just enough to see them on or off...

I'm curious about the keycaps..  If they're the thick/high quality cherry caps or what..

Looks great!  Good to know the seller is legit.  Looks like these use lasered keys.

Does your label read...

Yes, the part-number is the exact same... But I don't think the keys are lasered... It's like some resin/paste-stuff was painted onto it and hardened... A blind person could probably feel the letters, so they are raised somewhat...

Lasered keys tend to have a slight raised feel, which goes against the logic of expecting like I dunno, depressed.  I think it is because the area lasered is scratchy.  Although, it is also possible your keys aren't lasered.

He already has - look at his ice keys. I'm sure he can do tinted transluscent or pure clear, since he managed the whole frosted look. They are sweet.  So sweet, that I'm going to buy a keyboard I don't need, just because they're that awesome, when he gets around to selling them.

These are not lasered... Unless they are lasered and then filled with that gunk/resin/paste-stuff...

Imagine the letters are printed on with a VERY thick paint and then the paint is hardened...

They are lasered. That is actually exactly what Cherry does for black keys. They are lasered and then filled with....something.

Ah, cool to know...

In that case, people that are interested should be aware, that they certainly feel very different from any lasered key I ever felt...

Since it's one key closer, usually I just hit it with my pinky from the home row...

After using the larger EU enter, I found myself getting a little bit lazy though.

The advantage, as HaaTa put it, is that the ANSI enter key is available without having to wander away from J when you're touch-typing.
I don't touch-type, but it indeed doesn't seem too easy/time-efficient for ISO layouts when the enter key is so "far" (for regular people, with regular-sized hands, so to speak).

You've unwittingly demonstrated why most people here dislike the European enter key - it's too big an out of the way. The ANSI one can be hit by moving your little finger over.

I don't get why so many people hate the L-shaped enter key - my Key Tronic has one and IMO it makes it easier to hit from the home row with your pinky.

Completely the opposite... It being bigger is FAR BETTER (because WAY easier to hit) than it being like 1cm closer... Haven't got used to it yet...

On the L-shaped I just "throw" my pinky in the direction and it will hit the Enter 100% of the time... With the closer, but smaller one I hit all kinds of buttons, mainly the \ button above the enter...

It's bigger and thus easier to hit. But it has to be because you have to move your hand off the home row to hit it - it's one of those things were the advantage and disadvantage is inextricably linked. The whole point of the ANSI enter is that you don't have to move your hand to hit it.

You must have small lady-hands or something... ;-) I don't have to move anything of the home row...

Simple - we like the smaller Enter because backslash is where it belongs that way.

Riiight, because you need that way more often then the enter-key, now I totally get it!

Even small hands can keep index on J and hit pinky to ISO enter.  That doesn't mean that feels comfortable or natural.  Wider > taller for hitting keys.  If you've learned ansi, you're gonna hit \ instead of enter on iso and enter instead of \ at first.  In some ways, the location of keys you use less has a greater impact on speed, especially, when the key isn't where your muscle memory says it is.

You could swap springs and stick some....hmmm.....whatever coins on them and measure using Notepad when the letters appear.  Compare results.

Finally, got the very precise comparison of the red and browse springs with the red stem.

They are the same, at least in my case :)

The brown spring:

The red spring:

Testing switches :)

Since the red stem is nearly identical to black stem, and red spring is the same as the brown spring, I plan to buy a G80-1800LPCEU-0 to got the black switch and white pbt keys for my G80-1865.

Unluckily, the G80-1800LPCEU-0 is out of stock in China :)

It looks lasered to me.  The non-bubbly font is a dead giveaway. Both the double-shot and pad-printed share the same, bubbly font.

Some of my laser cherry keys feel smooth and some have that raised scratchy feeling.  I can feel it more on keys I use less, so even if they didn't get it right, over time the scratchiness goes away.

It's cherries new lasered keys... They are first lasered and then filled with some sort of paste that gets very hard once it's cured...
Sensory sensation ranges from "can't feel it at all" to "a blind person could feel those letters and recognise them EASILY".

my red and my blue board BOTH have it, but it's more raised on the red board...

I had heard that Cherry Corp's Lasered Key quality had gone down on the white/ivory keys but didn't know they also went down on the black ones.

Bummer.

I noticed the characters are thicker on the Black model.

maybe the characters are thicker on the black model because the keycaps are POM or maybe because it's black I don't know.

Bummer.  The RicerCar SPOS keyboard has Cherry lasers that are flat as a pancake.

True, they're nicely smooth, if a little lacking in contrast.

This is on a recent G80-3000, shockingly bad by comparison:

edit: looks totally flat if lit differently:

Yep! Really noticable to the touch, and painfully obvious on the cursor keys / numpad arrows, where the lines are thinner.

Sorry if I necro this mofo... ;-D Only wanted to give an update:

Since this thread and buying the MX red board I've pretty much used nothing else, I love it! Typing, FPS, RTS, perfect for one and all! So much, that I'm thinking about buying a small form factor one or something similar.

If you're thinking about pulling the trigger on a red, don't hesitate!

PS: I wanted to buy a red KBC poker, but I can't seem to find it anymore... Anybody know where I can get one or one very similar to it? Cheers guys!
