Banned for no reason?
« on: Thu, 01 October 2020, 17:15:16 »
I have multiple computers I use to sign in to Geekhack. On some of them, I use VPN services. This morning, one of my laptop shows that I have been banned, and the ban is permanent. I'm a bit perplexed, I'm 100% sure that I haven't done anything get myself banned, the only thing I can think of is that my VPN caused the servers to mark my activities suspicious and subsequently ban me.

I was getting ready to make a new account and ask this question when I noticed that my other laptop (the one I'm using now), which never used VPNs, can still log on (and post this message). My guess is that this laptop is still holding a cookie session that hasn't expired?

Admins? Can someone investigate this for me and potentially un-ban me?

Yup, if you were banned you couldn't post from any device.

There's a sticky for exactly this scenario and it's exactly as you thought - clear your geekhack cookies and you will be 'unbanned' :)
