Konpeitou Switches vs Marshmallows
« on: Tue, 06 October 2020, 15:09:33 »
Hey guys was wondering if anyone has any experience with the konpeitou switches. There doesn't seem to be a lot known or talked about these guys. I'm trying to decided between these are the marshmallows and so far it seems like the only differences will be the colour, longer stems, and different housings. Obviously, the change in stems and housing will affect the sound of the switch to be deeper but is it that much different from the marshmallows? They are more expensive than the marshmallows so I don't know if the sound alone (if there even is a big difference) justifies the rise in cost for the switch.

Idk if i knew what factory produced these switches i could give you more info. For all i know it could be a JWK switch recolored with custom ThicTock springs inside.

I think that they are produced by JWK (the marshmallows anyways) as per the IC for the marshmallows. I think it would be safe to assume that the Konteipou are probably also produced by the same factory? https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=102902.0

I don't know of any JWK switch manufactured with the longer stem, apparently the bottom housing had also been modified to accommodate for the longer stem. I don't know of any switch like that that has been manufactured by JWK, so we will have to take ThickTock's word for it until the first batch ships. I may be wrong though

well from what I have gathered in the discord it seems like they are using a new mould for the switch
