Filco Majestouch problems.

Okay, right about now. I'm really angry. I recently purchased a Filco Majestouch Tactile Click NKRO, only about a month ago. Over the last day and a half it has been having a few problems, every few keyboard clicks would give me a windows error 'beep', and it wouldn't register. But, just now. The entire thing seems to be dead. All the lights for Numlock, capslock and even scroll lock are lit. But, it won't register anything at all. I'm out of ideas and angry. Any input?

Contact Majestouch (elitekeyboards.com) here on Geekhack, and he might be able to help.  If you bought the 'board from him, he should be able to exchange it for you.  If not, he should be able to fix it or tell you how to fix it.

I haven't contacted the seller yet, I was checking to see if there was an easy fix around before I did that. Thanks for the help though.

USB or PS/2?

Have you tried the other interface? Have you tried the keyboard on another computer?

It is USB but with a PS/2 adapter. I tried both. Still not working. I haven't tried it on another computer, but I tried it with my Xbox 360 and it didn't work.

Hardly, my Filco has been taking a daily pounding almost every single day for a year and it's working better than the day I pulled it out the box. I love this thing.

There is nothing wrong with them from what I have seen.
My tenkeyless was got not long after they came out over/ here and up until a few weeks back was doing 12 plus hours a day, every day.

It sits/sat at the top of a three tier KVM setup (thru a passive USB to PS/2  and then a split 2 PS/2 two into one cable) so the controller is being switched on and off 100's of times a day as I go all round thru all of the computers/servers and is always there ready to go, where sometimes the mouse will take 2 seconds to come alive, and I expect under a much greater load then when just plugged into a single port.

Have you been plugging it in and out with the computer up and running ?

As said it needs to be run thru another known good computer as you cant rule out yours ATM.

From what I have seen they have a very good return rate.

i was not suggesting that every one was bad. just a select few. this seems to plague every board no matter the brand or price. at one point or another.
on the flipside i got an adesso that is nothing like what the review here describes. he obviously reviewed a bad example.

did you all see the topre with all the crooked keys here?
nothing is exempt from a few bad apples. this is not only limited to keyboards. you can get a honda that is a lemon as well. not the norm, granted' the exception.

i just wish products were made with 100% consistency. especially expensive products. that is wishful thinking of course.

My tenkeyless lasted 4 weeks before throwing a wobbly, so I am now waiting for the supplier to get replacement stock in. Law of averages I suppose, so now temporarily back to a 20 year old Model M.

i phrased what i meant to say wrong. i meant to say: all of the different manufacturers offering boards with cherry switches seem to come up with a bad apple now and then.
i did not mean to say all filco cherry boards were bad. i just realised it sounded like that was what i was trying to say. i was not in fact.

He could be saying every keyboard model which uses Cherry has one or two bad units :-)

Cherry is no less reliable than ALPS or Buckling Springs in my opinion.  They can all break when abused, and can last a lifetime when properly cared for.

You guys need to remember that we're talking about a mechanical device that has 80-120 switches in it at least 300-400 moving parts.  Their life expectancy is much longer than a rubber dome board, but there is more opportunity for something to fail when you have so many points of failure.  Often issues happen in shipping or a user accidentally hits a board, or spills water on it, or uses an underpowered usb port.  If the keyboard is well cared for and not abused, it should last a long time, but we put them through a lot that can result in failures.

You don't even want to know what I've spent at Elite keyboards.  They've taken care of me on every order, shipped fast and when I did have 1 issue it was promptly resolved.  Contact Elite, they'll help you out.

Hey guys. Okay. Re-cap. This is weirding me out. This issue is actually on and off. I'm using my Filco right now. Basically, every now and then it seems to be going out of commission. It starts with faintly stopping and spazzing out on the current key I'm typing.

I bought the Filco through a reseller, so I still need to contact them. But, seriously. I'm just glad this thing comes to life at all.

Wrong. Good rubber domes don't wear out and can withstand much more abuse than a mechanical keyboard.

No, not at all. I figured because it would only use really base drivers that it would work on their. It's sort of weirding me out, going on and off and such.
