Seems like a good deal to me, as I have read here that the Belkin works as good as the blue cube.

Better in fact. I can think of at least two things that cause a Blue Cube to fail that will work perfectly with a Belkin.

The Belkin divides out to be just under $5 all inclusive. A very similar item is only $1.50 each. Considering over 500 sold to date, if they didn't work then the seller would have an enormous headache.

Well, it's an issue of 'how well do they work?'

$5 for something that is reliable and proven is worth it in my books.

I just bought a Belkin PS2->USB Adapter, first one for me.  It wasn't from this deal but I would imagine is the same adapter.

I tested it with my minitouch today, plugged into an old Targus USB Port Replicator (ACP50AU) and in turn into my laptop.  Used it much of the day with no issues.

Had to switch to the pretty quiet Lenovo USB keyboard at times as the lady who was driving one of my conference calls today complained that it was too loud (and it was really).  She added that "it was a pleasing sound", just too loud for the speaker phone,.

Many, many adapters don't work with the model m.... Including plenty with great feedback on ebay.  The belkin is one of the very few that has proven to work perfectly with the model m.

In answering the OP, regarding cost of purchase, but if answering in regard to compatibility with specific keyboards, then there's the Wiki.

My preference is still the Gigaware single port PS/2 to USB adapter from Radioshack, difficult to purchase for international shipping.

I purchased 3x $1.5 worth to use with my ONE + laptop, I have no intention of lugging my laptop with any Model M, it may be too strenuous on a long haul even if you're six feet six, weigh 336 and called Big John.

Ak_Nala claims the Belkin uses the same chip as the Blue Cube (a Cypress - see the Dongle Wiki for details).

Someone would have to crack open a Belkin to verify for sure since the App in the Dongle Wiki is kinda flakey.

Perhaps the Belkin ones uses a later revision of the chip?

*facepalm*

Assuming the 'vendor' isn't an idiot, the 'vendor ID' will be the same for the same manufacturer. Only the other number will change.

Unless of course the situation is one where manufacture of that product moved to a different company (rights sold or something) and the new company made revisions.

Not sure about their USB<>PS/2 adapter but I've seen Belkin do things like have PCMCIA wireless cards with the same or nearly the same model number but with totally different chipsets inside.

Having said that, I should add that the one I just bought has the same vendor and product IDs as the one in the PS2-to-USB adapters WIKI article, as follows:
VendorID: 0a81 (Chesen Electronics Corp.)
ProductID: 0205 (PS/2 Keyboard+Mouse Adapter)

Just a quick update.  A couple of observations after using it a bit more...  The blank minitouch key does work.  Also I do seem to be seeing occasional resets as others have reported, but not severe enough to really bother me.

Were you using the mouse port at the same time?

Not on the Belkin, no.  Actually with all the USB stuff I have on this setup, I probably need to try it in a more "clean" environment.  In reality something else on this system could be causing the symptom.

Here's another lot of 4 for $11.99 (+$11.98 US shipping)

I'd get it, but it's yet another seller who won't sell outside the US.

I have one of these. Good converter, but it does funny things with a ps2 DT225, randomly reversing the axis when scrolling. Very small glitch thats easily fixed by releasing button and depressing again. I still suggest these as a good, inexpensive, and widely availably option. Zero issues with Northgate Omnikey or Model M 42H1292. (older boards that tend to bother ps2<->usb converters).

I'm not sure if this matters, but the model of these I have is a F5U119v, these are F5U119-E, and the ones on Amazon are F5U119-VE. I don't think it makes a difference, and I know the Amazon one works just as well on a 1989 1391401 Model M, but just a heads up.

Anyone know for sure if they work? I already have 3 of mine, which is as many as I need, but I know some other folks would could use some of these.

I just ordered a set of 4 of these adapters.  I probably will sell a couple as I won't need all of them.  Thanks for the heads up though.  This a good deal.  It would cost $10 shipped to buy one from Amazon.

IIRC somebody said something somewhere about there being something better than this or the blue cube? Was I just crazy or did I really read that?

Ok, so I've got a set of these now. Am typing through it using a model m. I (for the crap of it) went ahead and tried it with the mouse port first and that didn't work. Was it something else that didn't care? Because at least this model of belkins very much does care.

The control shift arrows thing seems to work on this. It didn't on the blue cube. The only caveat to that is this isn't the same computer that I did that on the blue cube with (that was a laptop). But when I tried it on that computer, I had to reboot to get it to stop however it was messed up. I'll update this post when I try to do that.

Then I guess it really is different from mine, since mine works for a keyboard on both ports. Though, admittedly, only one of mine even HAS both ports on it anymore, as I've cut the others off for use in teensy based adapters instead.
