I really don't know how you think that should be possible.
Little insight: 110 USD is almost exactly what GMK wants to have for a basekit. Quoted on a 250 MOQ. Like, you almost nailed it on the head.
Without shipping, handling, packaging, paypal fees, vendor work pay, let alone a CENT of revenue etc. etc. etc.
So that is simply absolutely impossible...

I am a big fan of the portal games but the colors of this set are just not for my. Maybe if it would be black on white and a few modifiers of this set. The orange and blue portals were just small accents you placed in the game, that could be the reason this just does not appeal to me. However it is a matter of preference like anything else in this hobby. Good luck with the group buy.

Joined in on the white deskmat, totaly in love with the design and idea.

I do not know how much of a difference in price the gmk base colors make up for. So take my comment with a grain of salt.
The EU pricing does not seem too bad by comparing the size of this basekit to other sets with a higher moq. It is only the Kono-fee that makes the pricing look ridiculus.

Unfortunately GMK now decided, after approving the Novelties for GroupBuy (and making me adjust 3 minor details / lines prior to GB start), to not manufacture them due to them being to close to copyright material.
Directly after that, we decided to not only pull the Novelty Kit from vendor homepages but to completely re-design them. And from my / our point of view, after stressing really hard about getting this done ASAP, they are even better now.

They don't anymore show any too obvious game-referencing graphics, but are bound way more into the actual lore of the games and are a tribute to many insider jokes and audio queues of the game.

We have:

1. The aperture. Nothing has changed here.
2. IT IS A LIE. Nothing has changed here.
3. The cake. The cake is not only a lie, but is has been redesigned to match the new novelties' style.
4. A Science graphic, reffering to the many science-related audio queues. Mainly: "I think we can put our differences behind us. For science. You monster."
5. A lemon, referring to the many hilarious lemon-audio queues, like: "When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back!"
6. A burning house, referring to the audio queue: "I'm the man who's going to burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm going to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
7. WATCH OUT! LASERS! DON'T GET BURNED!
8. A simple heart. Solely a hommage to a certain cube shaped object.

In most cases vendors already sent out an email to customers who already purchased the Novelty Kit about the change and giving you the option to either get a refund or keep the new Kit.
If not, this email will arrive with you shortly.

I deeply apologize that this happened, but after getting the Novelties approved for GroupBuy by GMK, nobody saw this coming.
I did my best to resolve this issue to the best of my abilities, and to be quite honest, I am very happy with the change to now see the Set not being as 'obvious' as before but really paying a tribute for lovers of the game.

Woah, you mean there is risk in using copyrighted material without paying licensing fees? Maybe the community should cut down a bit on using intellectual properties to sell keysets, iunno. The hobby is getting pretty big, maybe it's time to flex those creative muscles!

Maybe it's best to cancel the GB and get a licensing agreement in place. I can't imagine Valve would turn down a licensing opportunity like this unless they already have a "computer peripherals" agreement with someone else.

Personally., I will gladly pay 10% more for a set with actual Companion Cube, Glados, Turret, etc. in the base and/or novelties sets.

I don't know how anyone with a straight face could really say the new novelties are more true to Portal/Portal 2 than the old ones. From the rushed IC to compete with the other Portal themed set to the redone novelties after people purchased them this just comes off as a disaster all around.

Hey everyone.

Thanks for the concerns, everything went well, even if not as expected.
For me, not as a designer but as a keyboard enthusiast, buying other sets, too, this was one of the most amazing months with a lot of the coolest looking keysets ever.
But as a designer it was very very hard to compete against all these awesome keysets...

This is why it's even more cool to tell you all, while some vendor GBs are still running, that...

Exact, final, numbers will be announced here after the GB is completely done and all sales numbers have been updated!
