Cutting my own foam for Melody 96
« on: Sun, 07 February 2021, 00:54:40 »
I am building a Melody 96 for my brother and I could not find foam to fit his case. The one site that offers it is sold out, and I wanted to try cutting the foam myself. (I went with 2mm thick EVA foam from amazon.) I did not take into account how tedious it would be to individually cut out holes for every switch with just an exacto knife, so I have been searching the internet trying to find other options. Figure I would ask here to see if anyone has any suggestions. I am considering ordering a 15mm square leather punch tool to see if I could just stamp them out one at a time.

Use a metal plate as a guide for the knife. Listen to some podcast or audiobook while you do it and the time will not feel wasted.

Another option is getting it laser cut from a company like Ponoko (they have 2mm foam).
