New Cherry SPOS G86-62410 Keyboard
« on: Fri, 13 August 2010, 07:45:25 »
I've been lurking on Geekhack since May and I finally decided to register.

I stumbled across this on ebay in case anyone is interested.

I'm not sure what the switch is though.

Edit #1: The original listing has been sold but the same seller is selling one more.

Welcome to geekhack! I've only been around about that long as well :)

Sadly, I'm pretty sure that's the rubber dome version... the relegendable keycaps, on the Fn keys etc, are larger than on the one with MX switches. They're almost touching, whereas on the MX version there's a clear gap around each keycap.

haha nice video. I happen to understand Japanese so that might have made it better.

as for the keyboard, yeah Rubber dome it is, since i saw a picture of the mechanical one and those had weirder keys (more cramped).

Though it is a very good rubber dome board, I feel much better than keytronic.  I used one a couple of weeks ago and nearly bought it.

Cherry G83-6702 SmartBoard PS2/RS232 Keyboard FI EI HV
Cherry SmartBoard G83-6744 Black EI HV
Cherry G86-21000 CyMotion Master Plus9 Keyboard FI EI HV

Any of those any decent if gotten very cheaply?
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

A friend who is an admin at an elementary school just bought 32 cherry G83-6744's almost that cheap. Cheaper than the lower quality rubber domes they usually get for the students to fill up with chewing gum... I pleaded to him to at least spend them on their teachers =P
