Hello there!

This is my first post, so I'll just tell my general story to the void about how I got interested in mechs.

From the time I was 10 years old, my father used an old Daskeyboard that he had at the home computer because of his job in the tech industry. I played Minecraft on that family computer and started to develop an interest in gaming. My next keyboard was the Corsair K70 with Cherry MX Browns (Yes, the ultimate combination). After the MX Browns, I learned that linear switches were supposed to be better for gaming, so I bought (Or convinced my dad to buy) a TKL Corsair K65 keyboard with MX Speed switches. I really enjoyed the extra space the smaller form factor gave me, as I had just started to play CS:GO and then a few years later my main game Overwatch. While I do play a lot of video games, I also type a decent amount being a compsci major. My first custom build was in late 2019 after watching Taeha Types's video about hot-swap building a keyboard. That first build, which I now use to type this is a TOFU65 with lubed Tealios switches and PBT Chalk keycaps. Since then, I have purchased a few other keycaps sets and purchased a NK65 EE which I have yet to do anything with. I'm making this account now as I have joined my first group buys in the keyboard community in the IKKI68 Aurora and GMK Maestro. My wallet is now open to whatever comes my way.

I've also been in the discord server for the Paragon 75% for over three months now, waiting for my dream keeb to drop

I own and use K70s and K65s daily to this very day. Beautiful boards, and well built. Sorry to hear about you having to use MX brown on a daily basis. What did you think of MX speed for gaming? I have only used MX red in my daily driver K70 (for years and years) and I already find those to be too sensitive (resting my fingers on the keys I can accidentally actuate them) and think we would be better served with something just a tad heavier, like Gateron yellows, or with a lower actuation point ... instead of a higher one.

Those NK65s and IKKI68s look great. I don't follow GBs, so I am mostly ignorant of the rest.

As far as the MX speed for gaming, I couldn't say I could tell an appreciable difference between the "speed" and any other linear/MX red. (For reference I'm an above-average player ~3600 in Overwatch). They were indeed too light for me as I would tend to make errors when typing and sometimes accidentally press keys - especially tab - just resting my hand on top of the board.

At least for most FPS games, the keyboard is really inferior to the mouse in terms of importance. (Bad keeb + good mouse) > (Good keeb + bad mouse)

Yes, agreed, although a keyboard with only 2kro and/or switches in no way suitable for gaming could be pretty detrimental. I tried using a few clicky keyboards and it bothered me way too much, even if they were relatively light (I have not tried box whites, which might be a decent compromise). Also, a mouse has to be pretty bad to not be at least good enough. One of my favorite mice was some Rosewill gaming mouse I got for under $30.
