Anyone tried it? It seems to have some crappy plastic caps over a capacitive touch screen. Not really something I would like to type on.

From the article, it appears to have a touchscreen keyboard similar to the iPad.  I can't imagine it's very nice.  I still can't get used to the touchscreen keyboard on my phone.  I hate not having discrete, physical buttons.

I have the same problem on my GF's iPhone, too.  It's years of muscle memory from using Palms.  My EVO has great auto-correction that makes it easy to use, but doing crosswords kicks my ass.

There actually seems to be some sort of physical keyboard over the screen, though I'm not sure what actually returns the keycaps in the upper position.

The Engadget article noted that this isn't a commercial product but a device used for a college competition for grants from MS, or something.

I like news sites that have "blog" in the name.  It allows them to totally act like a news site and present information as news without all the hassle of validation.

I think this screen has the same construction as the one I ascribed to the Optimus Popularis in the thread about it. A physical keyboard with clear keys and the springs or rubber sheet in the spaces between the keys over a single LCD screen.
