Those seem to be about the lightest switches at the moment.

How do they compare ? Which feels lightest ?

thx

Well, since I'm probably the only member with both boards, I guess I'd be qualified to answer :P

The Topre is definitely lighter. However, as it's tactile, the subjective weight is fairly close.

If you tend to bottom out, then the Topre will quieter, as the MX Reds tend to "clack" and the Realforce, "thock".

Given the choice between the MX Reds and Topre 30g, given how prices are atm, I'd choose the Topre. However, if you can find an MX Red board for under $100 (I've seen them as low as $45 new, but that's unlikely to happen again) then it would be my first choice.

Thank you.

...and how would you describe the actuation point ? Which of those switches require the less travel distance to activate ?

But if you just jam the keys then the area of the curve under the force chart (W=FxD) determines total energy expended.

You are just confusing them, you mean the integral of the function :D

Bare in mind that Red Cherry switches are 45g (possibly higher as pointed out above) and regular Topres are 45g also. So even a regular Topre is probably slightly lighter.

It isn't near impossible, it just costs more.  Elitekeyboards auctioned an all 30g on ebay.  The importer on ebay would probably get you one.  There are japanese buying services.  I'd email elitekeyboards first.

I emailed Bruce at the Keyboard Company to ask him if it was possible to have an all 30g model shipped for me with the bulk of their command. I got a reply to my mail the day after I sent it. He's looking into this for me. Nice guy and impressive service. I hope they will be successful with their Topre on the European market.
