Model M Xwhatsit Solenoid on original PCB
« on: Tue, 24 August 2021, 18:22:22 »
Hello everyone!  I am a longtime lurker and first time poster.

I have a '92 Dell Model M that I've had for almost twenty years.  Today I discovered solenoids, which I think are awesome and I really want to install the xwhatsit version in my keyboard.  I saw Orihalcon's post where he used the xwthatit model f board on his SSk model m here https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=69394.msg1727558#msg1727558, but I want to continue to use my original PCB and ps/2 connector if at all possible.

I have a few questions that I'm hoping you guys can help me out with:

1.  Is it possible to use xwhatsit's solenoid and driver with the original model m PCB?

2.  If that is not possible, can I use  xwhatsit's PCB and the original PCB at the same time by splitting the ribbon cable from the matrix (both of them being separately powered of couse).

3.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
