Unicomp Model M Troubleshoot
« on: Fri, 03 September 2021, 15:45:55 »
Long after my first post of cleaning my Model M, then the keys stopped working, I decided to purchase a membrane from Unicomp and install it along with performing the bolt mod.  Completing the task, all my keys worked appropriately.

I had the keyboard plugged into my front panel's USB while testing each key to make sure it worked well, then, unplugged it use it in its permanent spot, plugging it into a USB extension which runs to the back of the PC (this is what my current board is plugged into so I know it works).  Unfortunately, my Model M will not work anymore plugged into any USB or PS/2 port.

Did I just do all that work for nothing, or is there something that I'm missing between a fickle M and my PC?

I've attempted:

  • Leaving it plugged in and restarting
  • Unplugging it, restarting, then plugging it in
  • Starting in Safe mode with it plugged in
  • Unplugging it, starting in Safe Mode, plugging it in
  • Turning off PC, connecting it to USB-to-PS/2, starting PC

Is there anywhere besides Unicomp that has a replacement Ruffian V6_0_C circuit board?
