Simpleminded currency conversion: how much would a brand new 1985 IBM Model be worth?

According to Wolfram Alpha one US dollar in 1985 is worth 2.01 dollars right now.

That would mean that the Model M's introduction price was equivalent to about $400 - $500 today. Was it worth it then?

Just a thought.
