Looking for a high end GH60/RZ60 compatible case
« on: Mon, 18 July 2022, 14:39:28 »
I just bought a Wootang 60 (for the hall effect switches) and want to swap the switches and pcb over to a nicer case. (the PCB layout is based on the Gh60 / DZ60)
(I would really like to avoid desoldereing the usb-c connector, attaching leads to a jst connector and create a custom plate to fit into a non compatible case).

I hope someone can recommend me a good one  :thumb:

My perfect case:  :p
- black e-coat
- 6° or smaller typing angle
- some kind of soft mount (gasket mount, rubber o-ring, or spring mount)

Budget <450$

It's somewhat hard to swap already built standard 60s into the mounts you want.  For gasket you would need a different plate, for o-ring you would need pcb cutouts, and spring mount well, same thing as gasket.

Your best bet would be either a fjell or a bakeneko type board plus dremel.

the board come with a steel plate ... I would prefer alu anyway. fjell has a 8° typing angle which is just too much for me.

The bakeneko is really expensive when shipped to europe and would I not have to resolder the usb port for that one?

I think the Hive60 is one of the rare boards that made it to group buy like that.

I really don't want to end up with a Tofu.

What's maybe also good to mention is that there is no electrical connection between the switches and the pcb. I can easily change the plate and I don't need clearance for Hot-Swap sockets.

I'm upping my budget.

<700$

Oh yes my bad, I was thinking of the unikorn v1 which had some standard USB position and could fit a standard 60 if you just cut a few holes into the PCB.

But otherwise I'd be thinking of whatever tray mounts you can find. If you can swap plates, I think the haven60 or sangeo could be options. I've used a standard dz60 in a sangeo before, just need to swap plates so you can install gaskets.
