IBM Model M Space Saver Clicky Keyboard **NIB**
« on: Mon, 27 September 2010, 17:01:55 »
Great forum you have here.  Lots of interesting information. Had I found this site earlier I might have bought something else than my Das Keyboard..

Anyway, I stumbled across this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180566704048&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1340wt_1137

I would make a bid myself, but I imagine it will get expensive. Plus, I have to pay 50$ to get it shipped to EU, plus tax :frown:

Yep. The Comptek2wk Minis are naturally recurring.   Like Fruit Flies coming back every 2 weeks.

And they naturally go too expensive.

Auctions are the perfect economic market.  Except when the seller claims it's a "Clicky" rubber dome keyboard.

In this case it's pretty much classical economics since there are no other NIB Minis appearing on a regular basis and the seller does a good job representing the product and delivers what he/she says she will.

I've seen more IBM Model M Space Savers lately than vintage clicky SIIG minitouches.  The minitouches used to be infrequent but seem to be none for quite a while lately.

Over $100 prices tends to bring them out of the woodwork.

Economics.

True, wish I had one, or twenty,.  If I had one I could use it, if I had twenty I could be cashing in and using one,.  If I had just one I wonder if I'd want to use it or sell it at these prices, not sure.  I sure don't want one bad enough to buy at these prices,.

Sheesh, Comptek2wk has been selling them for nearly two years now.  Maybe he needs to list them more often than once a month.

In eighth grade we took home ec, shop, art, and typing. Each for one quarter.

The sewing machine was the best. Rat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat and you've got a new pair of jeans.

Typing class sucked. Tandy 1000s running evil educational software off 5.25" floppies. My bad habits were ingrained long before 8th grade. Never could do home row.

RSI prevention recipe:[/B] Kinesis Contoured, Colemak layout, touch typing, Contour Design Rollermouse,  Logitech TrackMan Wheel, Logitech m570 trackball, "workrave" break timer software, "awesome" window manager, tenkeyless boards, cherry browns, Wang 724 with "ghetto green" ALPS, standing desk and/or comfy adjustable chairs, stress reduction, computer time reduction.

Fun non-ergonomic things: bolt modded Model M Space Saving Keyboards with new springs, Kensington Expert Mouse v7, Unicomp Endurapro, Northgates

And then there's this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300479934682&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

A 1392980 with the RJ45 connector.  Anyone know what's the typical going price for one of these?  Imagine quite a bit less being it's not PS/2 compatible.  Interesting the seller's rating is only 98.1%
