[IC] Let's Split v3, a split ortho with a lot of RGB
« on: Fri, 25 August 2023, 19:12:35 »
Introducing the Let’s Split v3, a reimagining of the original by Wootapatoot.

The Let’s Split v3 is a split ortho keyboard with both halves using a 4x6 grid. It has per-key RGB, as well as 39 1mm addressable LEDs for underglow.

The PCB uses an RP2040 MCU, and the connection between the halves uses a USB-C cable to eliminate the possibility of shorts if the cable is unplugged or plugged in hot.

The PCB has already been prototyped and tested along with QMK and VIA. A stacked acrylic case has been designed and tested, and I’m currently working on pricing for high and low profile aluminum cases. Please check out this gallery for pictures of the functional prototype as well as renders for the cases:

Please take the time to fill out my IC form for a chance to win the prototype in the picture.

The V2 came up while I was researching a split ortho to build for a friend of mine. While I didn't go with it in the end, I do enjoy the design, and the name has stuck with me. Looking forward to seeing this project come to life!
