I was curious about this, since I own 2 Thinkpads. But overall I think I'm not a big scissor switch fan. Should probably stick with Topre.

I've had a few keys off my ThinkPad 600E; definitely scissor switch, and not too difficult to manage.

Did you guys ever figure out if this truly was a scissor switch?

Someone here thought Thinkpad scissors were easy to remove.

I never took any keys off mine.  I am historically (hysterically) frightened of laptop keycaps based on some bad experiences in the distant past.  Perhaps it's not as big a deal as I'm making it out to be.  In fact I'm guessing it's likely that if I search, there may be directions on this very site on how to do it correctly.  Kinda want to be careful, especially since I managed to bust an ALPS white switch apart last week when pulling a keycap off.  I've pulled off a bunch of those and never busted a switch open but this one must have either been damaged and/or the cap was so tight (it was pretty tight) that I damaged it.

You can take a look at my picturers. I took apart one of these to get hold of the trackpoint.

At last! A mechanical keyboard with Trackpoint of my own! Now with Hyper-Scroll! And also Ergo-Clear switches. Ohh... look... custom keys! :D

IIRC, these keyboards have a firmware issue whereby the release of the shift key is delayed. THis LEads TO TYpos LIke THis.

I went back and re-read that negative review I wrote, because I didn't feel I was being harsh. All I was saying is that the top two rows use different switches with shorter travel, which breaks the uniform feel. I thought I gave it pretty good comments like light, solid, no flex, and the regular rows are almost as good as the keyboard on my X60. Consider the facts, not the tone :)

And my new work laptop is a T410, which has the exact same keyboard as the USB keyboard. The Top rows suck. At least the X200 series still has the old keyboard design where all keys have the same feel. If Lenovo changes that in their next iteration (very possibly), I'm going to write David Hill, the self-congratulating "designer", an angry fan mail.

Last, I don't have the delay problem with the shift key. What I described in the review about the right shift key is physical, not functional.

Any review that ends with "I RMAed it within an hour of receiving it." is pretty negative.  But I'll admit you did state why you didn't like it.  Guess it's a good think it didn't bother me if the T410 is the same since I have also been blessed with one of those now.

Eh... whoops... my link was a little bit off.

The real link is:
http://picasaweb.google.com/k.peter.mattsson/CherryG803000LQCWithLatestGenerationTrackpoint#

The picture I had in mind was this one...

It's quite hard to tell from the picture... but I believe this is normal Thinkpad Scissor switches.

I tested the keyboard before I took it apart. And yes, I also had the shift delay error. And I was aware of this already when I bought it. But since I was going to rip it apart anyway I didn't really care.... ... the error kind of disappeared after that.... ...can't understand why...
... The trackpoint works great though...

I can post pics of my Thinkpad T40's switches if you want but they are definitely scissor switch. I took a couple keys off a few years ago.

The model I have is pre-Lenovo, YMMV.
