Chinglish on Ducky box… how will you rewrite it?
« on: Sun, 24 October 2010, 02:19:24 »
Was just sitting here looking at this box and trying to make sense of what it says… it doesn't make sense at all.

Just feel like rewriting everything in a sane way, then dropping their product manager an email that goes along the lines of "Your product literature sucks, try using this one instead!" :)

Ah well, for what it is worth at least they tried… unlike Diatec…

How will YOU rewrite this?

If I helped, can I get a Ducky 1087 with PBT for free?
I would really like one for free.. or at least free PBT keycaps.

PS: I do translation as part-time work to support my keyboard purchases.

First picture:
High quality mechanical keyswitches used provides the required speed and comfort level needed

For a user looking for typing on a high efficiency level and similar comfort level, the Ducky NKRO keyboard enables one to fully depress and register all 104/108 keys at any instant. This function allows the Ducky keyboard to become a multi-function keyboard - satisfying the needs of fast typists and gamers alike. The Ducky keyboard utilizes high quality mechanical keyswitches - where soft audible clicks, exceptional tactile feedback as well as a long operational life of 50 million keystrokes enables higher typing speed and accuracy.

2nd picture:

1. FN Multimedia Hotkeys (or Shortcut keys)
2. 4-cluster shortcut keys (Only for 108 key model)
3. Function key utilizes stabilizers for stable typing
4. Detachable USB cable for carrying convenience
5. 3 different cable routing channels for more choice
6. Windows key lockable (For those who enjoys gaming, no need to worry!)
7. Special FN function keys that are swappable (hard to structure this, quite vague of the function actually.. does it mean that one is able to swap the default function keys with this button?)
8. Thin bezel frame design - simple and stylish
9. Ctrl and Caps Lock swappable (more convenient for other OSes)

PS: @Lanx, I think he works for Ducky or Ducky is definitely giving him incentives for the free advertisement.

But if the product is good, does it really matter ?

Since the intended market is china/taiwan i don't see how it makes much difference :/ as long as the product is good, i don't care much about the packaging, however this is my own opinion.

For a layman that knows nothing about the Ducky, a good presentation, as in description, and how the box look, may matter :/

pretty much agreed. Anyone in the rest of the world who purchases one of these knows exactly what they are buying and doesn't give two ****s about package marketing.

edit:

oh, but according to their current English translation, none of this matters:

Seen many Western manufactured products with Chinese literature ?

At least they tried and if you don't like it, then don't go buying it, full stop.
To criticize on inconsequential details is a little narrow minded and depicts one's lack of original thoughts.
Do you people ever consider that there maybe other members who's native language is not Latin based ?

Maybe this site is slowly regressing into another OCN, just pick talk pick talk pick talk and no think think think in between.

@J888www

I don't think he is trying to make fun of the Chinese. He is most likely Chinese himself (i'm half Chinese by the way).

What he means is about their product presentation. Of course it's not truly professional but that is a minor thing compared to a bigger problem ....

They need to make it easier for international buyers to buy one for starters .... Nevermind the Chinglish descriptions on the box. Just getting one is a hard chore as it is.

So basically their going to need distributors if they want to be on par with Steelseries and Razer products which have better distribution.

Then they can worry about being as marketable as Razer but hopefully without the lies and exaggerations ;_;

Anyway from the picture of the box, i myself can make sense of most of the details, so that should be good enough. The real problem is convincing a layman why they should bother spending that much money on a mechanical compared to a cheap rubber dome keyboard. Or whats the difference between this and say a Logitech G19 rubber dome that has bling.

They need to learn to use google translate in Taiwan

For typing comfort and efficiency with emphasis on those who, ducky key keyboard is not card, the user can press the 104/108 buttons appear at the same time, this feature allows the keyboard to become multi-function keyboard ducky, in line with typing speed of users and the demand for video game players. Ducky keyboard class mechanical axis, by virtue of minor clicks and excellent tactile feedback sound, and five million times long life, designed to produce faster typing speed and accuracy

btw, the descriptions in Chinese have some grammatical errors too, these keyboards r probably made by amigos
I rrrove brrracks.

It was certainly a better job than those under the employ of Ducky could manage. It's clear enough now that those of us who can't speak/read/understand a lick of Chinese COULD run with it. But I contend it really doesn't matter. The writing on the box could be finger-painted on with **** and blood, so long as there's a mech kb inside no one here is likely to complain.

I just took a look at mine. The documentation is almost 100% in Chinese. There are a few English words thrown in, PCB, Win, Realforce(?), and Andy(?).

It's all about putting a language through a translator, I mean i think the US and maybe UK the only ppl that use terms like motherboard translate that into a language that doesn't have that familiar term.
