I wouldn't call that a mod, more like crazy otaku(in this case otaku is actually used correctly instead of blank keys) obsession having fun with stickers.

Seems pretty tame to me. It is the Japanese we're talking about here.

Personally I just want the measurements of the keyboards so I can implement the keyboard geometries in the XServer :D.

But wouldn't the [strike]folded edges[/strike]flap seams eventually get dusty/grimey?

The method this guy uses is preferable, although it's probably only acceptable for applying to slim-profile keys.

The key part (sorry for pun) is 5 min 44 sec in, where the stickers are heated to fit each key seamlessly.
